Thermistors: Thermo-optical measurement

Sensor concepts combining optical and thermal measurements are catching on in automotive electronics and appliances. EPCOS has developed combined sensors that enable both the clouding and temperature of water to be measured in washing machines or dishwashers. For automotive applications, EPCOS offers sensors for measurement of solar irradiation and temperature in vehicle interiors.

Combined sensors yield savings in final assembly in particular, because only one sensor instead of two has to be fitted – at a single location and in a single operation.
