SAW components: Most compact UMTS duplexers in case size 2016

EPCOS is pushing the miniaturization of UMTS duplexers ever further: the new filter components for W-CDMA bands I and V in case size 2016 have a footprint of only 2.0 x 1.6 mm² and an extremely low insertion height of 0.45 mm.  more

SAW components: Production start for world’s smallest UMTS duplexer

EPCOS is continuing to reduce the size of duplexers even further. The new duplexer for the WCDMA Bands V/VI, which features a footprint of just 2.5 x 2.0 mm² and an ultra-flat insertion height of 0.5 mm, has just entered series production.  more

SAW components: Smallest duplexer for WCDMA Band VIII

EPCOS has developed the smallest duplexer for the WCDMA Band VIII. The duplexer is based on a SAW-SAW combination and measures in at only 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.1 mm3.  more

Front-end modules: Advanced multiplexers for UMTS

EPCOS has developed several new multimode and multiband front-end modules that allow future mobile phones to use the different frequency bands of UMTS. Depending on the number of bandwidths used in a particular UMTS phone, several duplexers are needed because UMTS transmit and receive simultaneously.  more

Microwave ceramics: Even smaller sizes

The new GPS filters B69812N1577B302 and B69812N1577D302 are likewise targeted at navigation systems in cars, ships or handhelds and at mobile phones. In comparison with previous filters, they are distinguished by a 35% smaller space requirement and a signal-tonoise ratio of up to 50 dB for the various mobile radio frequencies.  more

UMTS SAW filter with low insertion loss

EPCOS has developed a SAW filter for 3G handsets that combines high selectivity with low insertion loss. It features the best filter characteristics on the market, with typical insertion loss of only 2.4 dB and adjacent channel suppression of 34 dB at the same time.  more

World's first GSM/UMTS antenna module

EPCOS is introducing the world's first dual-mode ASM (antenna switch module) combining UMTS and GSM for the next generation of mobile phones. Since UMTS will initially be limited to densely populated areas, 3G handsets will have to be capable of operating to both the current GSM and the new UMTS standards.  more

Miniaturization record in SAW filters

EPCOS is the world's first manufacturer of surface acoustic wave components to make IF filters with a footprint of only 7 × 5 mm for mobile phones to the IS-95 CDMA standard. Up till now, the standard size was 9 × 5 mm. CDMA (code division multiple access) is a technoloy used in North America, Japan and Korea, which currently have the world's fastest-growing mobile radio networks.  more
