February 17, 2011 | Inductors: Multilayer ferrite coils with the industry’s highest rated current (TDK-EPC Corporation) | TDK-EPC, a group company of the TDK Corporation, has developed a TDK multilayer ferrite coil (MLZ2012-H series) in case size EIA 2012 with a rated current that is 2.5 times higher than existing products. With a current capability of up to 700 mA at 1.0 μH and dimensions of just 2.0 x 1.25 x 1.25 mm³, the MLZ2012-H series is ideally suited for decoupling in compact electronic devices such as notebook computers and digital still and video cameras. more |
November 5, 2009 | Ferrites: Product range of PQ cores extended (TDK-EPC Corporation) | TDK-EPC, a group company of TDK Corporation, presents its extended range of EPCOS PQ ferrite cores. With the newly added core sizes PQ40/40 and PQ50/50 the full range of PQ cores is now covered between the sizes PQ16/11.6 and PQ50/50. The PQ cores have been developed in particular for transformers in switch-mode power supplies. more |
June 25, 2009 | Ferrites: Development tool improved | The improved ferrite tool (Version 5.0) allows application-related parameters to be calculated and represented on graphs. Digitized material data of all ferrites from EPCOS can also be accessed. The new database comprises all current ferrite materials from EPCOS. This also includes N45, T36 and T66 for broadband transformers as well as N51 and N95 for power transformers ... more |
April 30, 2009 | Ferrites: High efficiencies even at partial loads | EPCOS has developed a new power ferrite material with an exceptionally low power loss. In contrast to existing materials, N95 offers a constant loss minimum of 310 kW/m3 over a broad temperature range of between 60 and 100 °C. Depending on the temperature this is 15 to 54 percent lower than the losses of conventional power ferrite materials ... more |
February 2007 | Ferrites: New materials for power applications | EPCOS has developed two new ferrite materials whose improved properties make them suitable for the power range typical of SMPS and current meters. N95 is distinguished by a high flux density of 525 mT at 25 °C and 410 mT at 100 °C. more |
January 2007 | Design tools: Development made easier | The AlCap design tool for scaling capacitor banks for frequency converters has been improved and extended. Version 4.0 of the ferrite tool has also been reworked to allow calculation of user referred parameters. With Ceramic capacitors, the latest innovations mean the DC bias curves for various ceramic materials are now available on the internet. more |
June 2006 | Ferrites: Reducing standby losses | EPCOS has developed a new ferrite material with the designation N51 that significantly reduces the standby losses of switched mode power supplies. The loss minimum lies in the temperature range between 70 and 120 °C with conventional ferrites. more |
March 2005 | Ferrites: New planar cores for DC/DC converters | EPCOS has developed improved planar cores for DC/DC converters based on high-performance ferrite materials for power applications. As these converters are usually of customer-specific design, a wide range of ferrite core shapes is needed. more |
February 2005 | Inductors: Smaller design for DSL transformers | EPCOS has managed to make interface transformers for DSL equipment even smaller. Two years ago, these transformers were downsized from EP13 to EP7 cores. Series B78416 based on EP5XL cores has set a further milestone in miniaturization. more |
January 2005 | Ferrites: Extended core series for power transformers | Core shapes U126 and I126 have been added to the EPCOS range of U and I cores for power transformers. The U126 closes the gap between the U101 and U141. more |
November 2004 | EPX cores: Efficient transformer for DSL | EPCOS has developed the new EPX9/9/9 cores for transformers for DSL applications. Combined with the newly developed SMD coil formers of Duroplast, they feature an enlarged winding space. The cores are available from EPCOS in state-of-the-art broadband ferrite materials T38, T57, T66 and N45. more |
December 2003 | | Mit einer neuen Drossel-Reihe basierend auf EF20-Kernen wurde nun eine kostengünstige Lösung speziell für die Unterhaltungselektronik und Lichttechnik entwickelt. more |
October 2003 | Low-cost coil former for E30 cores | As part of ongoing optimization of the product portfolio, EPCOS now offers an additional, low-cost coil former for its E30 ferrite cores. Following a redesign-to-cost approach, a newand more powerful tool was devised to produce a substitute for the established coil former. more |
February 2003 | New planar cores for power applications | In telecommunications, data systems and automotive engineering, demand for power supplies with planar cores is steadily rising. Here distributed power architectures are being used on a growing scale. These call for more low-profile design, higher power density and higher output currents at the same time. more |
October 2002 | Ferrite material T38 improved | In response to customer demands, EPCOS has once again improved its tried and tested ferrite material T38. Until recently, manufacturing techniques restricted initial permeability µi in ring cores with a diameter of more than 17 mm to a figure between 7000 and 9000. more |
April 2002 | N45 ferrite material for EMC applications | Components used for interference suppression in automotive electronics must be capable of withstanding higher and higher temperatures. This requirement results not only from progressive miniaturization, but also from the tendency to install more and more automotive electronic components close to sources of intense heat. Thanks to its outstanding thermal properties, the new N45 ferrite material developed by EPCOS is ideal for these applications. more |
August 2001 | New EPX/EPO cores for xDSL | EPCOS has added three optimized core series for digital subscriber line applications to its product range. The EPX7/9 combines the height of the tried and tested EP13 with the footprint of the EP7. The EPX10 has an optimized design and the same overall dimensions as the EP10. The EPO13 is a low-profile version of the EP13. more |
April 2001 | EPCOS launches innovative ferrite materials for power and broadband applications | In switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), power density is constantly increasing. At the same time, integrated circuits require SMPS with lower and lower voltages but the same power consumption. more |
November 2000 | Innovative ferrite material N97 for power applications: Best-in-class power dissipation in 25 to 400 kHz range | Progressive miniaturization in power electronics calls for continuous improvement of key parameters such as power dissipation and DC magnetic bias in ferrite materials. more |
November 2000 | EPCOS opens production center for ferrites in Czech Republic | EPCOS today dedicated a plant for production of ferrite cores in Šumperk in the Czech Republic. Located some 200 kilometers east of Prague, the new facility currently occupies an area of 130 000 square meters and is being rapidly expanded into a production center for ferrites. more |
