You will ensure high availability and optimum performance of databases; proactively monitor databases to ensure integrity and security with minimum downtime; improve and maintain the databases including rollout, upgrade and releases. In addition, you will plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information; approve, schedule and supervise the installation of databases.
Working as part of a project team, you will coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations with IT project managers, programmers and web developers.
You will also monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses; implement release of database changes as submitted by the development team; maintain data standards including adherence to the Data Protection Act; develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans.
Education requirements
Degree in information management or computer related courses
Requirements
Minimum 3 years working experience as an Oracle Database Administrator
Experience in:
⌐ managing multiple RDBMS on large systems in a centralized and distributed environments
⌐ monitoring and tuning databases to provide a high availability service
⌐ managing data warehouse
⌐ PL / SQL
⌐ Windows and Unix environments
Knowledge of Oracle tools like OBIEE, OWB, etc., and experience in other databases like SQL will be advantageous
