The candidate list according to article 59 (1, 10) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) was published October 28th, 2008 on the website of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Determining whether any of its products contain more than 0.1 percent by weight of the candidate substances is an ongoing process. For this purpose the company is in close contact with its suppliers.
In this process it has been found that N-Methyl-Pyrrolidon (NMP) CAS 872-50-4 is contained in certain aluminum electrolytic capacitors (see EPCOS REACH list below).
EPCOS is taking every effort to replace this substance as quickly as possible. We did this already with Bis (2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP) CAS 117-81-7, which was contained in certain classes of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Since June 2011 (Date Code B6) Dibutyl Phthalat (DBP) CAS 84-74-2 has not been used any longer in film capacitors.
