The tool allows application-related parameters to be calculated for all available EPCOS ferrites and provides access to their digitized material data including their graphical representation. In its revised version 5.0.1 the tool can run under both Windows XP and Vista. In addition to the new user interface, the tool's graphic options have been improved to now include a copy function. The user manual of the tool contains a detailed description of all functions.
The new database covers all current materials. New materials for broadband transformers N45, T36 and T66 are included as well as new materials for power transformers N51and N95. Some of the features of the current version:
- frequency dependence of parallel components of the complex permeability as well as impedance
- transmissible power considering skin and proximity effects (from wire calculation menu)
- calculation of third harmonic distortion under circuit conditions for different temperatures
- calculation of core losses depending on signal form
- wire sizes given as American Wire Gauge (AWG)
- performance factor added for materials N95 and N51
