With successful innovations EPCOS is strengthening and expanding it market position and tapping new applications and markets. In this way we are expanding our existing customer relationships and enabling new ones. Innovation thus safeguards the future of our company and the further development of our business. On behalf of and in collaboration with our customers, we consistently accelerate development of new electronic components, modules and systems that are ever smaller, ever more powerful and ever more cost-effective. That in turn helps our customers get superior products to market faster and thereby gain a competitive advantage.
Products that have been on the market for less than three years make up about 40 percent of EPCOS’ sales. In SAW filters, almost half of the sales volume is achieved with young products, primarily because most of these filters are used in mobile phones and entertainment electronics – both market segments with exceptionally short innovation cycles. The advances made by EPCOS in its development work are reflected by the trend in sales of new products. These include multilayer ceramic modules for mobile communication applications, robust aluminum electrolytic capacitors that are used in power-saving variable-speed drives in industrial machines, and pressure sensors in exhaust recirculation systems of cars.
We are also increasingly expanding our global research and development network at our production locations in Eastern Europe and Asia. In the process, we are strengthening our position as a development partner that is located very close to its customers.
Around the world, EPCOS conducts basic research in collaboration with respected universities and research organizations.
