EPCOS has been rapidly and consistently stepping up its presence in Greater China for years. Today, we have 7 manufactures and 7 sales offices in 13 locations. About 12,000 employees alone make up 46 percent of our global workforce. In 2009’s ranking of the most successful components manufacturers in China, EPCOS China holding was 6th place overall. The annual ranking is published by China’s Ministry of Information Industry and the Chinese Electronics Components Association. Counting the participating companies with similar portfolios, EPCOS is the largest manufacturer in China.

Our customers in China include both multinational and local companies. We have combined our Chinese business activities under the roof of EPCOS (China) Investment Ltd. in Shanghai. EPCOS thus offers customers in China the optimum solution for obtaining sound advice and the full range of electronic components from a single source, and paying for them in local currency.

EPCOS is consistently using the advantages of China as a manufacturing base – proximity to customers in a promising growth market and an increasingly open economy. Key growth industries served in China are telecommunications – the country is the world’s largest potential market for mobile phones – and the computer industry. But consumer and industrial electronics also account for sizable shares of EPCOS’ Chinese sales.

Manufacturing
Since 1999, EPCOS has been producing inductors, transformers, chokes & EMC filters in Hongqi (Guangdong Province) and surge arresters in Xiaogan (Hubei Province). Varistors, PTC thermistors, inrush current limiters, sensors and film capacitors are manufactured in the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone (Guangdong Province). EPCOS started manufacturing surface acoustic wave components in Wuxi (Jiangsu Province) in 2001. Since fiscal year 2006, EPCOS manufactures aluminum electrolytic capacitors in Xiamen (Fujian Province). In early 2009 a new joint venture for the manufactures AC & DC power capacitors in Ninggou City (Anhui Province).

Sales network
EPCOS’ predecessors began marketing electronic components in the “Greater China” region 30 years ago. Since then, the sales network has been continuously extended and is to be reinforced over the next few years. Today, EPCOS has sales offices in the industrial centers of Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Xi'an, Hong Kong and Taipei. Staffed by electronics experts, they offer customers comprehensive service.
