Improved electrical properties
Feedthrough filters and capacitors
EPCOS has made further improvements to its range of feedthrough filters and capacitors for telecom applications. The new, solder-free Meshcontact
technology developed at the Heidenheim plant in conjunction with self-healing MKP
capacitor windings (metalized polypropylene films with dry impregnation) has led to
significant improvements in insertion attenuation and insulation resistance. The new
feedthrough components in compact cases are significantly smaller than their predecessors.
In addition, the thermal stress of soldering is avoided, thus preventing any damage to windings.
Feedthrough filters and capacitors are used in telecommunications applications, especially
in central offices and base stations. They ensure broadband interference suppression right
up into the gigahertz range, thus preventing noise pulses from entering or escaping from
equipment via the supply network. But feedthrough components can be used for interference
suppression in virtually any electrical installation or application.
EPCOS will phase in solder-free contacting for its entire range of
feedthrough components. A modular system with component diameters of 30 and 55 mm is
being introduced as standard to cover current ranges of 25, 63, 75, 100, 200, 300, 400
and 500 A with capacitances from 0.1 to 4.7 µF. Components can be supplied with
intermediate capacitances for special applications on request. Thanks to the modular
design of these components, samples are available at short notice.
